Every Night of the Week February 27, 2007
Posted by admin in : Spring Break Nightlife , add a commentPoohbear and I are on a mission to fill the world in on the never-ending party scene of Manuel Antonio.
It’s non-stop here… non-stop! Every night of the week there is always a place to create a ruckus and party throughout the night.
Ladies night. Never fails. There is always a ladies night somewhere in the world and here in Manuel Antonio there’s one to be found every night of the week. Does anyone know what that means? Free drinks for the ladies…tons and tons of free drinks, for all the beautiful women who frolic to Manuel Antonio.

If ladies and free drinks aren’t your thing, don’t worry there’s always live music night, reggae night, salsa night, dance on the bar night, party on the beach until the sun comes up night- or morning, and what the hell did I do last night?…nights.

Forget Fast Food- Eat a Casado February 26, 2007

Nothing beats a Casado. It’s the best deal- food wise- that you can find in Costa Rica. There is no other meal that’s as tasty, filling and cheap.
A typical Casado comes your choice of meat (fish, pork, or beef)- vegetarian dishes are also available-white rice, flavorful beans, palatable potatoes, a golden fried plantain, and a healthy side salad.
What’s a full plate like this cost? Usually 1500 colones, which is cheaper than buying three items on McDonald’s dollar menu… not to mention healthier.

Do monkeys really like bananas? February 26, 2007
Posted by admin in : Spring Break Activities , add a commentYes! Another post about monkeys…they’re just so damn awesome.
In Costa Rica it’s recommended that you don’t feed the monkeys. Reason being- they can become too dependent on humans and there is the possibility of them becoming overly aggressive. That has to be the case with every wild animal…right?

However, opportunities do arise here in Manuel Antonio that you just can’t pass up. I’m not encouraging you to go searching for our hairy amigos just to feed them, but if you have some extra fruit that your not going to eat, and you have the choice of throwing it away or giving it to a moocher with a tail, I would choose the latter.
The posted picture is of yours truly handing off a left over banana from lunch to a White-Faced Capuchin (White Faced Monkey). It was a totally new and exciting experience that will never be forgotten. It also reaffirmed my belief that monkeys are cool ass creatures.
So…do monkeys like bananas? Hell freakin yes! Almost as much as Poohbear and I love Imperial…almost.

I love Imperial Beer February 25, 2007

I love Imperial Beer, la cerveza de Costa Rica. Imperial is more than just a beer, it embodies all of the reasons why Costa Rica is the best place on earth. It’s label is colorful and fun. It has young people jumping around and partying, not surprisingly with an Imperial in their hand. It proudly embraces it’s status as the beer producer of Costa Rica, and no one disputes that.
Finally, it’s motto is the same as that of Costa Rica: “Pura Vida,” pure life. On top of that, it tastes fantastic and is absurdly cheap. Imperial is like my other partner in crime, along with Buckwheat. They both always seem to be present at the best of times, and also the worst of times (when I need them most). So cheers to Imperial, la cerveza de Costa Rica.

Will Candice Ever Surf in Costa Rica? February 24, 2007

Will Candice ever learn to surf in Costa Rica? Will she even get up? Here at Costa Rica Spring Break 2007, we thought it would be a great idea, if we created a learn to surf video. Surfing is big in Costa Rica, Candice has all the numbers, and it could be helpful for people who want to learn.
We even found the perfect person to do our video - Candice. Look at her up there in the corner, so cute, and so talented. She was a radio and t.v. reporter in Tennessee, a personal trainer, and can even bake and crochet! Who better to create the Costa Rica learn to surf video and to crochet me a surf bag.
Unfortunately she can’t get up on a surfboard. It is an essential element in our learn to surf video. Candice is a trooper, and tomorrow she promises to eat her wheaties, and get up or else it’s gonna be a wipeout video. We’ll keep you posted.
Monkeys? Yeah, we’ve got Monkeys! February 22, 2007

What makes Manuel Antonio better than any other Spring Break destination? It’s got beautiful beaches and a raging nightlife, just like Cancun, Cabo, Panama City, or any other given Spring Break destination. But we’ve got monkeys! In fact we’ve got 4 different types of monkeys, in addition to sloths, iguanas, and geckos that are seen in plain view all over the place.
Walking around Manuel Antonio, you can see these animals frolicking in the lush forest. For a more focused view of the wildlife, I usually take a guided excursion into Manuel Antonio National Park. There, a fully certified bilingual guide will take you on a trip through the park pointing out wildlife & plant life and explaining the ins and outs of the beautiful ecosystem that is Manuel Antonio.

Volleyball is just one of the many awesome daytime beach activities that Manuel Antonio has to offer. I usually like to play a couple of games in between dips in the ocean and sunbathing. Being active in a beautiful setting is a wonderful thing.

I can’t think of any better way to wind down a day and get ready for a night than a couple of frozen drinks by the pool, a beautiful sunset, and a well deserved nap in a chez lounge chair next to a pool that is ready to cool you off. I look forward to enjoying this every day!

Sunset Sails Getaway February 15, 2007
Posted by admin in : Spring Break Activities , add a commentTake an adventure aboard sail ship through the scenic coast, past the beautiful beaches and islands of Manuel Antonio Park.
As the boats glides quietly under sail you’ll probably see dolphins which frequently swim in the boat’s bow
wake.
Occasional whales and giant sea turtles are a special thrill, and the ever present abundance of sea birds are enjoyed by even the most avid wildlife enthusiast.
A crew will guide you through this aquatic paradise while attending to your safety and comfort. They will personally serve you plentiful portions of delicious food but with a homeade touch. Good cooled beer, long drinks and soft drinks are included.
On the morning and sunset cruise you will stop in a scenic jungle bay where you can swim or snorkel in the calm, refreshing water. All of your snorkel gear is provided just bring a towel and your swim dress with you. It is also recommended that you bring sunblock.
After dinner, you will view one of the often spectacular sunsets.
It is truly a romantic ending to a memorable day in paradise.

Enjoying a Costa Rica Sunset- definitely one of the most relaxing activities and the best way to end a day at Manuel Antonio Beach (MAB). The great news is, they occur on a daily basis- a little after 530PM. Anytime there is an opportunity to catch the sunset, and you’re in Costa Rica, don’t miss it or you’ll be kicking your own ass.
So grab your drink of choice, kick your legs back, and enjoy what mother nature has to offer.
