Location & Directions

Where is Costa Rica? Check out this Map for a more detailed look at Costa Rica, weather, population, and other related stuff.
Costa Rica is located in Central America, below Mexico and Nicarauga, and above Colombia and Panama. It is nine degrees above the equator, so the temperature remains pretty constant year round, and there are only two seasons - Sunny and Who Cares. Who cares because it’s always sunny and hot during Spring Break in Manuel Antonio.
Where is Manuel Antonio? On most Costa Rica Maps - Look for the pacific port town of Quepos, Manuel Antonio is not included on many maps cause it’s a small beach town, Manuel Antonio is only five minutes from Queops.
Getting Here: - You have several options, plane, bus, car, taxi, hitch hiking, walking, crawling. We recommend any of the first three methods of getting to Manuel Antonio.

“If your plane arrives into Costa Rica before Noon - take a Sansa flight to Quepos.”
by Bus:
From the downtown San Jose “Coca Cola” bus station, take the “Directo” Quepos/Manuel Antonio bus, 6 daily departures, cost $5. Don’t try to find the bus station on foot - you won’t. Take a taxi to the bus station. The bus will arrive in Quepos and most people will get off. You can stay on the bus and they will drop you off right by the hotel. Ask them to drop you off at the Banana Tree Hotel (the official hotel for Costa Rica Spring Break.)
You can also take Interbus with daily shuttles from San Jose the most popular tourist destinations in Costa Rica, pick-up from your hotel, cost $29. They will drop you off at the BananaTree Hotel. Interbus is the more direct and comfortable option.
by Plane:
Two airlines, Sansa and NatureAir, have several flights to Quepos/Manuel Antonio daily, flights last 20 minutes and costs $50. Sansa is adjacent to the international airport, while Nature Air is in San Jose, if your flight to Costa Rica arrives in the morning, and you have no plans to visit San Jose, you can walk out of the airport, make a left, walk another 50 yards and hop on a Sansa flight. Also, if you have an afternoon flight out of Costa Rica, you can catch a Sansa flight, avoid spending the night in San Jose, and squeeze one more day in Manuel Antonio.
“Blow off the car! It’s a major expensive and unnecessary hassle, It’s easy to get here by bus or plane, and once you’re here you don’t need a car.”
Car:
All the major Car Rental agencies are located in Costa Rica, economy, budget, alamo, and many more. Look up your favorite on the Web. Rates vary, from $45 per day on up. The road between San Jose and Manuel Antonio is good, poorly lit at night, but well marked It runs right past the airport in Alajuela, use caution when driving through the mountains, as there are lots of trucks and buses and people love to pass each other around curves. You don’t need four wheel drive to visit Manuel Antonio.
Also don’t leave luggage or bags in your car overnight or when the car is out of your site. Costa Rica is a safe place, you’re not going to get car jacked here, but car break-in’s are common.
